September 17, 2019 - Government Moves to Dismiss Indictment

September 17, 2019 the Government filed a motion to dismiss the indictment. In response to Mr. Kent's petition for writ of habeas corpus for our client Donjuan Powell, the United States Attorney filed a motion requesting the Court release Mr. Powell from federal custody. This is the end of more than a year of litigation over his federal criminal charges. The federal Magistrate Judge denied the Government's motion to release the writ, advising the Government that the proper procedure would be to file a motion to dismiss the indictment.
