June 6, 2019 - VOP Sentence Reduced from 15 years to 5 years

June 6, 2019 State Circuit Court Judge Jon Morgan reduced Mr. Kent's client P.K's sentence for violation of probation from 15 years down to 5 years. This constituted a time served sentence and P.K. was released from the county jail without having to be returned to the state prison. Mr. Kent represented P.K. at the resentencing June 6th after two years of post-conviction litigation had succeeded in vacating the prior sentence and prior admission of violation of probation. The State had again argued for a 15 year sentence, but Judge Morgan denied the State's request.
