September 24, 2020 - Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals Grants Rehearing En Banc In Congresswoman Corrine Brown's Appeal
The Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals granted rehearing en banc for Mr. Kent in his appeal of the conviction of former Congresswoman Corrine Brown. This appeal presents a question of first impression in the federal courts involving First Amendment religious liberty rights and the disqualification of a sitting, deliberating juror. The First Liberty Institute of Plano, Texas joined in with Mr. Kent in the petition for rehearing. A divided panel had upheld Congresswoman Brown's conviction. Chief Judge William Pryor, however, authored a 65 page dissent to the divided panel opinion.
